Have you ever been to a show where artists’ costumes completely mesmerised you? Have you ever wondered how these bespoke costumes are created?
Well, we would like to invite you to see what goes on behind our Costume Designer’s Andie Scott’s studio doors. Andie is an international fine artist and an award-winning designer who has recently completed her MA at London College of Fashion in Costume Design for Performance with distinction.
She designed costumes for acclaimed theatre touring shows such as ‘From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads’ and ‘Miss Havisham’s Expectations’; her awards include Royal Academy Lates ‘Best Costume’ award 2017, RHS Coke Award for Travel and 100% Design Award for Costume.
Needless to say, she knows her craft and she gets extremely excited talking about her projects. We were very lucky to catch her at work and she has kindly agreed to share her knowledge and tell us more about the thought process of her creative mind.
Listen to our latest vlog where our Director, Sorcha Rogers, chats to Andie in preparation for Cirque Luminaire Bloomsbury Big Top Show and discusses how Andie deals with challenges such as transforming something that revolves around light into an eye-catching costume or making sure that outfits are not just durable but also sustainable.
